Happy New Year

I'm ringing in the new year in Oklahoma this year. This is my gingerbread house that I made with my cousins this Christmas.

More SNOW!!!

I'm sitting at PDX airport waiting for my flight. We've had a foot of snow in the past few days, and I'm one of the lucky ones who has a flight that hasn't been cancelled yet. Some people have been here since last friday and most of the people have been here over night. Everyone has that glazed over exhausted look. On the positive side the snow is so beautiful and it really makes it feel like Christmas.

Change is Good

This has been my mantra for the past few weeks. It helps me feel better.

Snow Day!

I'm enjoying watching the snow from my window. I'm from Texas where its in the 70s right now, so I really don't know how to drive or function outside right now. I like to stay inside and just watch.

It finally feels like Christmas to me. I've been making gifts all day in my workshop. There's lots to do around here!!

Get Out Da Way!

I recently made this really cute padded camera pouch for one of my etsy customers. I really like the way it turned out so I wanted to share it with you. I applied the same padding method that I use for my laptop bags for the camera pouch. I basically made several horizontal pockets that are stuffed with plastic remnants. The inside is lined with upcycled tee-shirt.

Sorry of the lack of posts lately, all of my energy has been focused on another project that I will talk about soon!

Christopher Bettig

I am feeling very inspired by the work of Christopher Bettig today. In fact I think I may have a design crush.

His design aesthetic aligns with the some of the stuff I've been wanting to experiment with lately- mostly using the sewing machine with found paper and scraps. I love the wallets at the top. They can  be purchased over at Pocketo. The use of negative space in the middle piece is quite graceful and powerful.

New Calendar in my Etsy Shop

LinkCheck out my latest etsy item here. This project has been really fun for me becuase it forced me to get off the computer and make with my hands. The process of screenprinting is very time consuming and I spent every free moment for 2 weeks preping the screens or running the press. That being said, the final product is worth it. There is something very satisfying about seeing the ink on the paper and feeling the textures. You can find more photos of my process here. Special thanks to diskgrunt! I would not have been able to do this project without you.

In Need of Bullet Proof Vest

I'm loving these witty tee-shirts I saw on this blog. I think I could go on and on thinking up more ideas for this series.  Anyways, you can buy them here.

Corner Forest

I've seen this beautiful photo making its way around the blogosphere, and I wanted to share it. Yuken Teruya is the mastermind behind this wonderful idea, and it just goes to show that you do not have to spend money to make beautiful art. Everything you need is around you already.
