DIY Felt Flower Brooch Tutorial

I've been busy crafting for myself. This is flower broach was made from this well written tutorial. It takes alittle bit of time to cut out all the petals, but I think it was definetly worth it. The flowerette ends up being about 4in in diameter and can be used on clothes or as a hair accesory. The itty bitty pocket on the underside of the flower, for a small photo or note, makes me gitty with delight. I highly recommend trying out this tutorial.

Behind The Scenes- Screenprinted Jelly Fish Blank Cards

I was inspired to make these cards after watching the underwater Planet Earth series. I fell in love with the beauty of the transparent jelly fish floating along so gracefully. Mother nature does a fantastic job of keeping me inspired! This is my abstracted representation of those ethereal jelly fish. using carefully considered eco friendly materials. The cards are blank on the inside for your message. There will be slight variation from card to card due to the nature of screen printing.

Thats me lineing up the paper so everything is registered. All the cards were printed at The Pull, an independent screen printing shop.

Check out that pink ink! I'm really not much of a pink kind of girl but I really like the way it turned, especially on the green paper.

After the cards are printed, they go through the scoreing machine so they have a professional fold. Then they are packed in a cello sleeve with a CuriousDoodles insert label.
All of the paper is 100% recycled from post consumer waste which is really cool.

They are ready to ship from my etsy shop.

Embroidery Pine Cone Doodle

This is what I ended up making for my Mother's Day gift. Growing up in East Texas meant pine cones were a part of every day life. I remember my cousin and I making pine cones, mud, and grass into a caserole concoction down by the creek. Those were the good ole days. Anyways, whenever I see a pine cone I get nostalgic and miss home in the piney woods of Texas.

DIY STICHIES Embroidery Card Kits

I am so excited to share my first line of DIY Embroidery kits in my etsy shop!

Embroidery + Minimal Typography + Beautiful Paper= STITCHIES

This kit is perfect for the DIY-er exploring emerging niche of modern embroidery. Each card is laser cut to make it easier to sew (like connect the dots). They are made out a beautiful recycled paper with a subtle woven texture and matching envelopes. STITCHIES are oh so tactile and will be treasured far longer than the usual electronic correspondence.

If you love the look of these cards but don't want to do the sewing, I have some sewn cards ready to ship in the shop.

What does the kit come with??
• 5 laser cut cards and matching envelopes
• Needle and quality red thread
• Instructions
• Zip-lock bag organizer (great for on-the-go projects)

Here is an example of what one the finished cards looks like.

So I've been a little quiet on the blog lately. That is becuase I have been busy making lots of new stuff for the shop. Thank you for being so patient. I will be sharing more of my latest projects over the next week.

Book Review: Make Your Place by Raleigh Briggs

I bought myself this lovely book last time I was at Powells. I've always been intrigued with the idea of making my own soaps, cleaners, etc. but I feel like I need someone to hold my hand during the process. Raleigh Briggs totally does that. The zine is written in a very casual voice, like I was having a conversation with Raleigh Briggs over a cup of tea. It's packed full of custom illustrations/diagrams and hand drawn typeography which makes me happy! Some of my favorite articles were on Pest Control, Cleaning Drains, and PMS. The one thing I'm unsure of is where to buy all the ingredients. Anyone know the answer to this?
