Can't get enough of Abigail Renolds artwork. The mix of black and white and color is very effective not to mention the layered meaning. I really want to see them in person because they look so tactile.

Naturearte: Intricate Leaf Cut Designs

While gathering inspiration for my 2012 calendar I came across an amazing artist I want to share with you. These intricate leaf cuts take a huge amount of patience and delicate handy work. I am so impressed with the amount of detail he can get in each leaf.

"All the work of cutting, drying and framing has been self-taught. I have cut many leaves and the vast majority of them have ended up in the trash, but I am slowly perfecting a method that will not break the leaves."

Cut Paper Triangle Typography

While I was across the world, I still managed to do some hand typography. This custom piece of type was designed for a collaboration with Michal Garcia. Each letter is made up of several tiny triangles all hand cut by me in various Japanese coffee shops.

Confession:I have a new obsession with stop motion! I've been very inspired by other artists making stop motion films on the interwebs. So while I was visiting Michal Garcia in Hong Kong, we decided to collaborate on a stop motion film about fun things to do around the city. Here is a tiny teaser. Enjoy. All the photography is my Michal. All the cut paper is by me, CuriousDoodles.

And the behind the scenes action of me positioning each tiny piece of paper. Kind of meditating after awhile. And Michal with his crazy camera set up. It worked very well by the way.

I have started crafting while on the road and it feels so good. It had been way to loon since i picked up some scissors. Right now I am collaborating with Michal Garcia on a stop motion film and this will be a piece of custom type used in it. I'm going for the friendly, regal, cute-sy vibe. Also, I just love the cut up look of the chipboard background. This has been my makeshift cutting mat while on the road. It gets the job done.


I find myself claiming any blank desk or surface as my craft zone in hostels and other various public spaces. Custruction paper, exacto knifes, needle and thread everywhere. This is the way life should be.
