Cut Paper Triangle Typography

While I was across the world, I still managed to do some hand typography. This custom piece of type was designed for a collaboration with Michal Garcia. Each letter is made up of several tiny triangles all hand cut by me in various Japanese coffee shops.

Sneak Peak at Embroidery on Paper Project

I've really been feeling the need to bust out my needle and thread lately, so I have a little project going. It's almost done now. I'll share more pictures soon. I'm having to be more creative with the way I make things because my resources are limited with what is available on the road. I'm making it work though.

Hand Cut Typography: made in Shanghai

I have started crafting while on the road and it feels so good. It had been way to loon since i picked up some scissors. Right now I am collaborating with Michal Garcia on a stop motion film and this will be a piece of custom type used in it. I'm going for the friendly, regal, cute-sy vibe. Also, I just love the cut up look of the chipboard background. This has been my makeshift cutting mat while on the road. It gets the job done.


I find myself claiming any blank desk or surface as my craft zone in hostels and other various public spaces. Custruction paper, exacto knifes, needle and thread everywhere. This is the way life should be.

They are made out a beautiful recycled paper with a subtle woven texture and matching envelopes. I finally found the perfect typography scarf over at Little Factory. It is a dream come true for me, and for only $58. They also have lowercase and number scarfs as well. Sigh....

Sam Winston

Sam Winston, you rock my world. This writer/artist explores the power of language through his work. I have to say that alot of people try to explore this kind of expressive typography and not to many do it well. Every piece on his website is beautiful. The artist has a refined eye for how to play with words as shape and form and work the negative space between the words.

Typography love

I found these really cool envirnmental graphics in botique called Ian in seattle. I love the mix of illustration and bold type.

Seattle Library

I was in Seattle this past weekend for the first time. I had a really nice weekend and the weather was baa-u-ta-ful. The Seattle public library is an awesome example of architecture, environmental design, and graphic design all working well together.
The light streaming into the building was really nice and created a nice atmosphere for studying and reading.

This is the most unique exculator i've ever seen! The green color pop makes it easy to find and the tone on tone graphics are nice.
Simple large typography becomes a beautiful way-finding system.
The gift shop had a cool structure. Each of the shelfs rolls out along a track when it is open to create aisles.

Arabesque Graphics

I'm always curious about what is "good design" in other countries. I'm especially intrigued by the typographical styling for languages with a different character set.I came across Arabesque- the book here. It looks really cool from the few sample pages on the website. The graphics seem very authentic and they strike an emotional chord for me which is hard to achieve. Nice work!

DIY laptop bag

This past weekend I made a bag to hold my computer. I thought I would share some of my process. I basically created a huge rectangle out of fused plastic with all the graphics I wanted on one side. Then I attached a panel from an old teeshirt on the back. Then I sewed horizontal lines that create the pockets for the padding. The padding is made up of wadded up plastic bags. Next, turn everything inside out and stitch the sides together. And Wha-la. A super cool eco friend laptop bag. Woot!
