Embroidery Installation Collaboration with Widen & Kennedy

I was recently commissioned to make a large scale embroidery installation for the front doors of Widen + Kennedy, a local advertising agency. I was giddy with delight at the thought of the project. I used the thickest yarn I could find and a huge needle to pull this off. These letters are seriously huge and bulky to deal with, but totally worth it in the end. If you live in the PDX area you can check it out in person at: 224 NW 13th Ave. Portland, OR 97209.

Geometric Embroidery Patterns on Paper

I've been awfuly quiet on the blog becuase I was traveling most of the month of July. I'm back now and I have lots of little projects going on. I've been experimenting with hand stitched geometric patterns in paper. They are really fun and relaxing to make. A bit time consuming, but I don't mind.

I've been brainstorming ways to extend my DIY Stitchies line of cards. I'm thinking about offering a geometric grid of laser cut holes. The possibilities are really endless when using a hexagonal or square grid which could be fun for the DIYer.

Embroidery Pine Cone Doodle

This is what I ended up making for my Mother's Day gift. Growing up in East Texas meant pine cones were a part of every day life. I remember my cousin and I making pine cones, mud, and grass into a caserole concoction down by the creek. Those were the good ole days. Anyways, whenever I see a pine cone I get nostalgic and miss home in the piney woods of Texas.

DIY STICHIES Embroidery Card Kits

I am so excited to share my first line of DIY Embroidery kits in my etsy shop!

Embroidery + Minimal Typography + Beautiful Paper= STITCHIES

This kit is perfect for the DIY-er exploring emerging niche of modern embroidery. Each card is laser cut to make it easier to sew (like connect the dots). They are made out a beautiful recycled paper with a subtle woven texture and matching envelopes. STITCHIES are oh so tactile and will be treasured far longer than the usual electronic correspondence.

If you love the look of these cards but don't want to do the sewing, I have some sewn cards ready to ship in the shop.

What does the kit come with??
• 5 laser cut cards and matching envelopes
• Needle and quality red thread
• Instructions
• Zip-lock bag organizer (great for on-the-go projects)

Here is an example of what one the finished cards looks like.

So I've been a little quiet on the blog lately. That is becuase I have been busy making lots of new stuff for the shop. Thank you for being so patient. I will be sharing more of my latest projects over the next week.
