Since 2005 artist, Ivano Vitali, has been creating art from up-cycled newspapers. Each page is processed into yarn without the use of dyes or glue. I love playful scale of his works, especially the sock. His knitting needles are amazing. I can't wait to see what he makes next!

Paper Art, Typography, and Stop Motion

I'm very inspired by paper artist, Bianca Chang. I think the process is very beautiful and obsessive. Each paper is hand cut! The final effect is very subtle, sophisticated, and I just can't stop staring at it. Check out her website here. Be sure to watch it come to life through the stop motion.

Cross Stitch on Paper

I blogged a little bit about this recently. This is how the finished project turned out. I cannot tell you how meditative and calming it is to make these. The quote is something a teacher told me during my travels. Kind of an "Ah ha" moment for me.

Sneak Peak at Embroidery on Paper Project

I've really been feeling the need to bust out my needle and thread lately, so I have a little project going. It's almost done now. I'll share more pictures soon. I'm having to be more creative with the way I make things because my resources are limited with what is available on the road. I'm making it work though.

French Knot DIY Tutorial

If you are not already familiar with the DIY STITCHIES Embroidery Card Kits, go check them out here. These kits are great for beginners that want to try out embroidery on paper. The holes are all laser cut so its really easy to get started. All of the cards can be made using a simple backstitch and a french knot. I made this french knot tutorial because sometimes its much easier to learn by watching (at least for me it is). The STITCHIES kits are ready to ship from my shop.

Please note, sometimes when you are working with embroidery on paper, the french knot will go right through the hole on accident. Don't freak if this happens. Make another french knot right on top of the existing knot until its bulky enough to not go through the hole.

So I've been a little quiet on the blog lately. That is becuase I have been busy making lots of new stuff for the shop. Thank you for being so patient. I will be sharing more of my latest projects over the next week.

DIY Paper Flower Bouquet

I made these flowers from this tutorial with Jeffery Rudell. Go check it out because it is surprisingly easy and relaxing. I made this bouquet to greet me when I first come in the front door. It adds nice color and personality to my entry way and the best part is it NEVER dies! The paper I used was mostly from paper sample books and junk mail. I happy with the patterns and colors I was able to find and mishmash together.

New Hand Sewn Pocket Sketchbooks in the shop!

There are a lot of new items that will be rolling out my shop during the coming weeks so stay tuned. I always feel more creative when I have a sketchbook by my side throughout the day. This is a really great size for your pocket or one of my wristlets. Check them out in my etsy shop.

No more bubble wrap

It's  functional and it looks pretty too! I hope this idea really catches on. I want to buy a die that I could use at home and make my own recycled packing materials for my etsy shop.

Christopher Bettig

I am feeling very inspired by the work of Christopher Bettig today. In fact I think I may have a design crush. 

His design aesthetic aligns with the some of the stuff I've been wanting to experiment with lately- mostly using the sewing machine with found paper and scraps. I love the wallets at the top. They can  be purchased over at Pocketo. The use of negative space in the middle piece is quite graceful and powerful. 

Saturday Morning Doodle Stitch

I was messing around with doodling on my machine and I made this. I love the raw quality of the line work and loose threads. I think the tone of it matches this weather perfectly.
