This calendar is an homage to all the beautiful flora I saw while backpacking through Southeast Asia this past year. When I got home, I translated my best photographs into graphic paper cuts for each month. The back of each calendar is a postcard, so they each serve a dual purpose.

When I got home, I translated my best photographs into graphic paper cuts for each month. The back of each calendar is a postcard, so they each serve a dual purpose.

The back of each print doubles as a postcard. So once the month is over you can send a quick note to a friend.

The process of screen printing lets the ink sit above of the paper, giving the finished product a richer tactile feel.

2012 Calendar Sneak Peak

The past couple weeks I've been working really hard to get the 2012 desk calendars completed. Here are some of the botanical paper cuts I made for the calendar. I've been translating some of the photographs I took during my round-the-world trip into graphic paper cuts. It's been a lot of fun, except my hand is complaining from all the tedious exacto work. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm so close! Stay tuned for the screen printing process.

2010 Desk Calendar has Launched!

After many weeks of frozen pizzas and long hard hours on the printing press I am thrilled to announce that my 2010 calendar is for sale in my Etsy Shop. They will also be for sale at the Black Friday Handmade Holiday Popup Show at Tribute Gallery if you live in Portland and want to see them in person.

My main inspiration for the illustrations was nature + geometry. As with alot of my work, pattern is a heavily used element. I absoutely love sitting down and making patterns so it was only natural for me to have several in my 2010 calendar. I also tried to keep my line work feeling free and I really tried to embrace the little imperfections. Sometimes its hard to predict how your illustrations will change when they go from paper to computer to print, but I'm getting much better and smarter with the way I work. The ink selection has such a big impact on the final print. I think I was even suprised how changing one color can totally change the emotional response to a print. In the end I hope people enjoy the prints and can get some bit of happiness by seeing them on their desk.





I have learned so much the past two weeks while printing. I want to give a huge thanks to diskgrunt for all of his help printing the calendar. It would not have ever happened without him. Also, if you know of any botiques in your area that would be a good match for my calendar, please let me know.

Sneak Peak at 2010 Silk Screen Calendar

I'm printing this years calendars again with the assistance of Diskgrunt over at his independent silkscreen press "The Pull" in North Portland. It is awesome to see my ideas come to life. I am deep in the production process of getting all of the calendars printing. It is fun and intense and so different that my normal day of 8-10 hours in front of a computer. My back isn't happy with me but I'm enjoying myself. So far I have 4 months printed so I'm a 1/3 of the way done. Woot! Stay tooned for more updates.

New Calendar in my Etsy Shop

Check out my latest etsy item here. This project has been really fun for me becuase it forced me to get off the computer and make with my hands. The process of screenprinting is very time consuming and I spent every free moment for 2 weeks preping the screens or running the press. That being said, the final product is worth it. There is something very satisfying about seeing the ink on the paper and feeling the textures. You can find more photos of my process here. Special thanks to diskgrunt!
